Digital Cappelli
Those who work in palaeography know as a fundamental tool the Lexicon abbreviaturarum o Dizionario di abbreviature latine ed italiane (id est Dictionary of Latin and Italian Abbreviations), published in 1899 in Milan by the Modenese archivist and palaeographer Adriano Cappelli (1859-1942).
Now I have made it available on this very site as a digital tool.
After a brief treatise on medieval brachygraphy, the volume collects more than 14,000 examples of abbreviations, for each of which the author offers graphic reproduction, transcription net of tachygraphic signs, dissolution, possible notes and period of use.
